A relationship based on 1Corinthians 13
Back again.Verse 4.Love is Patient ,Love is Kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. <wow does this verse prick at one's puffed up self esteem and desires.
Envy..Is it envious to have a beautiful home,car...another person's lifestyle. Myself , I think it is the overwhelming desire to possess a 'thing,' supplanting our true Love and Lord. Unfortunately it all seems rather empty when the object is obtained. Solomon in all his power, fame, wealth left a bitter oppressed taste in the Northern tribes of Israel. God blessed Solomon with wisdom ,but ahh..the wiles of satan and the earthly desires that swayed.
Verse5: It is not rude, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered ,it keeps no record of wrongs.
I guess in this world of failed relationships is there such a person who is not rude or selfish or a grumbling volcano ready to unleash vitriolic tongue lashings..ahem! And on top of that, the hurt baggage that comes with unfortunate life experiences.
The only true measure for me is humbly at the foot of the cross.
Well a word ..I wonder if christians do live by these verses..or are they null and void for some..I've seen church leader's who were agressive and insensitive..hmmmm..
Hallelujah..home is where the HEART is. Its lovely being away but I always apprpreciate coming home!
Have to go back to Verse 5..
What a measuring stick these verse is. What is RUDE?
Is it bad manners?
Talking over someone else?
Ignoring our fellow friend?
Being overly loud and obnoxious?
Forgetting that other people have feelings?
This verse always makes me humble..ahh what chasms yawn in our lives when the Bible is used as the yardstick.
This is my very favourite verse!!! How great is our God for giving us unconditional & undeserved love. The more I got to know more about God the more I learnt about "True Love" :-) What it truly means to love. There's a saying that, "It is in taking that we make a living, but it is in giving that we make a life!" How true is that! That's what love truly means. God gave his one and only Son to die for us so that we may have life!!! That is the truest & purest love in it's form! If everyone gives, everyone receives! The other way just doesn't work and only destroys! I am indeed forever in awe of Gods amazing and never ending love for us! He loves us no matter what! We don't have to prove anything or do anything to make God love us. He loved us even when we where sinners! We are saved not by the good deeds we do, nor by keeping the laws! We are saved by the grace of God. Through his grace he sent His Son Jesus who died to rescue us from our sins. The price has already been paid!!!
Jesus loves us, enough to die for us, let us love Him enough to live for Him!
Hello Jelly and Isel..Greetings to you sisters in Christ.
Well ..life is certainly busy..just like a merry-go -round madly whirring!!
Verse 5..Still on this ..has lots of thinking and soul searching..."it is not easily angered..it keeps no record of wrongs."
>>How's that for counting to 10 or maybe 100...
Where does anger come from..does it arise from an underlying problem? Has some-one pushed our buttons and lo and behold we erupt with volcanic wrath! Sometimes pride blocks our perception of 'ME'..our precious ID.
Have we the patience ourselves to step back and take stock of where we are? This verse is a wake-up call..a call for the HOLY SPIRIT to open our spiritual eyes ..to see who we really are. Spiritual ears to hear God's wisdom. A gentle and meek heart to accept discipline. A FORGIVING Heart to keep no record of wrongs....and that is the beautiful Nature of OUR LORD.
1Corinthians 13. How WISE is our Father God! How to treat our fellow human in 7 beautiful and in depth verses.
Verse 4: Love is patient, love is Kind. I like the way those two attributes are linked together. So is patience linked to stopping what we are doing and really listening to the other person?
Its a kindness to be able to take time..spend that extra few minutes to link into another's thoughts and feelings.
Our time is allocated 24hours a day..60minutes an hour. Apart from the sleeping ..what we do with rest of the day..will either lift the spirit and cause beautiful blessings to flow or ....sadly cause the day to become grey layered in the grainy etchings of care and material want.
I must confess a shortfall on my part .but each day is a new day "to be ordered by the Lord." and the first step on the narrow path.
